Early in his life, his father spotted his deft hands creating wonders looming Chinnalapatti Thalamboo Korvai Sari. It was, perhaps an irony that his amazing talent at a very young age, in this kind of special weaving led his father decide putting him on training at the looms, which eventually effected the break in his studies at the 6th standard level. Great calamity struck him soon when he was just 12 years old as his father who groomed him at the looms was snatched away by cruel fate. Left with shouldering the responsibility of taking care of his mother, younger brother and five sisters, unceasing work at looms, though painful, was the only way for him to tide over difficulties of the times and needs of a big family. Recollecting the tearful days of his early life, Mr. Subramaniam Chettiyar states that hard work, with half -meals on several days- even when all others were asleep- unswerving honesty in his job and trade and the blessings of almighty have helped him swim across the fire of adversities of times. In 1965, he started on a small scale with 5 looms and it soon grew to 10, 15 and so on. Carrying a torn-out suitcase containing sarees, he used to go for sales bare-footed to Chinnalapatti. Every day, he used to cover more than 50 kms. Though not able to dress himself well, his products were of ace quality and so the sales grew gradually; slowly from street sales to sales at Cloth stores.

Later, he turned his hands to weave Arani Sari and he excelled in this variety also. Opportunity of sales association with Nalli Kuppusamy Chettiyar was another further step in the ladder of success and now his business growth-launch of his own brand ‘Pathanjali Silks’ commenced at Madurai. Tiruchirapalli was soon added as an additional outlet. Mr. Subramaniam takes justifiable pride about the good will he has earned from many respectable quarters. Committed to quality and self-esteem, he has trained all his three sons in weaving.

He recalls that during a visit to Tiruchur , he himself was wondering at the sari worn by a lady- as it as as attractive as a Kanjeevaram silk Sari- but later came to know that it was his own product. Such was his personal skill in weaving and at looms. This skill abundantly helps him today to spot quality even from a pile of Saris. Thus his selections for sales in Patanjali Silks is always of high quality. Mr. Subramaniam Chettiyar has unswerving faith and adherence to the following guiding principles:

Never cause delay to traders and customers
Never get annoyed by customers and
Never cheat customers on quality.

It is his commitment to quality, honesty and concern and regards for customers that has steered him so far, strengthening him continue ensuring customer satisfaction in all aspects of his business. In short, the success of PATANJALI SILKS is woven with lasting yarns of hard work, commitment to quality, honesty in trade and bestowing highest value for customer satisfaction.
